DIARY

14/11/11- This lesson I was able to create a questionnaire and get them filled out by members of my target audience. To do this I went to the LRC and asked a even amount of males and females.

15/11/11- This lesson I made graphs and tally charts from my results on the questionnaire. I did this on word and then wrote a short summary of each graph or pie chart to explain what the results meant and how it was going to help me design my magazine.

16/11/11- I annotated the front of a magazine that was similar to mine. I chose NME because it is a similar genre to what I was going for.

18/11/11- I created my own publication plan on this day. I have posted it on my blog and it is a good reminder to go by whilst I am designing my magazine as I already have the inital ideas.

21/11/11- I did an analysis of a double page spread here so that I knew what was needed when I was creating my own magazine.

23/11/11- In this lesson I started to create a publication plan for the magazine GUITAR.

Analysis Of a Double Page Spread

- Drop Caps in colour relations to other parts of the page. (Colour Theme)
- One Page full of writing/ the other fully dedicated to a image.
- Quotes from the band in big
- Image Captions
- Three columns
- Always one quote that stands out on the page.
- Text box with added information
- Direct mode of address- always looking at the audience
- First paragraph has to be able to catch the readers attention - most important
- Quotes used may be controversial
- Headlines stand out - bigger than everything on the page
- Target audience, talks like they do.
- ALWAYS more than one image.

Publication Plan

Title: Hear!

Positioning Statement: For the Fans, By the fans

Price: £2:50

Distribution: Supermarkets, Local Shops, Newsagents

Rationale: The magazine will be based around the fans. From my research I know that the fans want to see more pictures in the magazine. It will be made to appeal to a wide audience by focusing on the genre 'Indie Alternative'

Style: Informal, irreverent style. The magazine will have 'Gossip' pages, hopefully this will relate to my target audience, age rage between 16-18 year olds. So they feel comfortable reading the magazine.
Images will be the dominant feature of layouts.
